i had a case study tutorial today for my business ethics module. Well, i suppose it went well as we received a good feedback for our proposed solution.. However, i would like to point out something, that should be pondered upon by everyone (including myself)..
So, it was a group case study exercise. I always knew im not so good at handling this. Along the way, i kept repeating to myself to stay calm and just listen, and add point whenever needed. BUT, there was this one guy who kept saying NO to everyone that tried to contribute ideas.. there was also another guy who kept diverting attention to other completely irrelevant things.. AND SO I HAD ENOUGH.
I had to step IN. I had to assume the leader role. Now, im the last person who would jump into such position because, firstly i dont like to assume i know better. Secondly, i have short-span tolerance to inappropriate act. Look, im never the serious person, BUT when it comes to assignment and duty..I AM ONE.
So, to the guy who kept saying NO to others..WHO THE FCUK DO U THINK YOU ARE?
Why cant u just listen to others too, and take them into consideration? What, too smart for all of us huh? Well, unfortunately for you.. I dont get backed down easily.. You can sulk all you want, but i get things done. IN A MUCH MORE DIPLOMATIC WAY THAN YOU ARE, FOR SURE! Well, and to the other one who cant seem to be focused on the task, im sorry. i had to dismiss you as "socially" incompetent. I know u are smart, but in this kind of environment.. dynamics of the group is important and clearly u r not riding with all of us. Perhaps, next time?
But then again, today's experience proved YET another shameful fact about myself. I DONT CARRY MYSELF WELL IN A GROUP DISCUSSION. True, there were the "two" that posed some challenge to the group, but I COULD HAVE HANDLED IT BETTER.. I need to work on my negotiation skills. Also, i definitely need to learn how to tolerate the clowns, the jerks, and others better. Eh, but then again.. MAYBE I WAS THE THIRD JERK IN THE GROUP.
